Via Hand Exerciser – Extra Light tension (Brass Band Fidget Spinner!)

Via grip.jpg

VIA Handgrip (Extra light) is a hand excise device for musicians, computer users or anybody who is looking to achieve stronger, quicker, and more flexible fingers and hands.

Building hand strength and coordination is essential for any brass player. The VIA series hand exerciser from Prohands is developed with the brass musician in mind.

The strengthening buttons are fashioned to mimic valves – a great solution to build strength and dexterity!

Daily exercise with VIA handgrip will greatly improve strength, speed and dexterity while maintaining the health and well being of the hands. Unlike the technical sports-specific models available, VIA Handgrip was designed for musicians with a rounder shape and more comfortable, smoother finger pistons.

As used and recommended by Dr. Matthew van Emmerik

Mead Springs

For Euphonium, Baritone, Eb/F Tuba and Bb/C Tuba

mead springs

“Superior design and performance have seen these springs become the must-have accessory for all euphonium, tuba and baritone players.”

The four stainless steel springs are covered in a thin fluoropolymer plastic tubing giving a completely silent action. Each valve spring is numbered (1, 2, 3, 4) and has to be inserted into the correct valve. Each one looks slightly different, but feels remarkably consistent to play with no rebound bounce on valve action whatsoever, allowing for smoother soft playing and without a doubt more precision and speed with faster music.

As used and recommended by Dr. Matthew van Emmerik

Four models of Mead Springs are available:

  • Original (compensating euphonium and Eb/F tuba/bass)
  • Light (compensating euphonium and Eb/F tuba/bass with a lighter feel)
  • Baritone (baritone and non-compensating euphonium)
  • Tuba (BBb and C tuba/bass)

Ultrabreathe (Red) Respiratory Exerciser

Ultrabreathe.png

Steve Mead says, “I’ve been using the Ultrabreathe for over 10 years now and have noticed a large improvement in the quantity and quality of air I’m able to use. I was a little scepticle of breathing devices in the past and did buy a few which now collect dust on a shelf somewhere, but the ultrabreathe is quite superb.

I think it was developed initially for the medical professional to help people with air ‘disorders’, asthma etc and has been used by young and old alike and in more recent times by athletes in training and in the last couple of years , by brass and wind musicians. To date I have never met anyone who used it and did not feel an almost immediate benefit from it.”
